My Surf Fishing Experiences

This site is about my experiences surf fishing, a place for my pics, stories and notes to myself  and my thoughts.

I fish alone most of the time, love the adventure out there, the challenge to catch. If it comes easy, its not for me.

Started fishing the surf in 1992, New Jersey.  Then came Long Island, first trip there was in 2014. All Catch and Release. No report chasing, no fishing in crowds. All artificials. I am a weekend angler and hit the surf around 45-50 times a year, fishing 1x every weekend from April to December with bonus nights while on vacation. I enjoy getting lost out there trying to catch.

Every trip is an experience. I fish hard and enjoy the time on the water. And I am anti-social, love being alone out there. Night time is the right time!!

And……I like catching on what I want to catch on. I don’t own an SP Minnow. I fish whats fun for me.

Whitewater out the wazoo!!

A few of my thoughts/beliefs:   I’m for catch and release. Anti boat fisherman, to many inconsiderate selfish careless people own boats (not all of them, but a lot of them), they suck, period. Anti snag and drop, if you have to do it, rehook your bait with a circle hook. Commercial fishing for Striped Bass needs to stop. And the killing in the bays as Stripers get ready for their trip to spawn, how is that acceptable? I’m all for a new Striped Bass moratorium or some extremely conservative regulations. And bright lights on the beach, vehicles or on your heads…no don’t be a that guy. Respect others.

What I think is in no way a barometer as to what is right or wrong, what works or doesn’t, it’s just my fun way I go about preparing and going about each adventure out there.
